ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of saccharomyces boulardii combined with chiropractics in asphyxial newborn with feeding intolerance. Methods One hundred and twenty asphyxial newborn with feeding intolerance were allocated into observation group (68 patients) and control group (52 patients) by random digits table. The newborn in control group accepted trace feeding and parenteral nutrition treatment, and the newborn in observation group accepted additional oral saccharomyces boulardii and chiropractic therapy on the base of control group. The time of reaching to full enteral feeding, the time of restoring to birth weight, the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia and the total efficiency of treatment were observed. Results The time of reaching to full enteral feeding, the time of restoring to birth weight in either mild asphyxial newborn or severe asphxial newborn in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.01 or<0.05). The incidence of hyperbilirubinemia in mild asphyxial newborn or severe asphxial newborn in observation group was 16.7%(8/48) and 5/20, in control group was 36.8%(14/38) and 9/14, and there were significant differences (P<0.05). The total efficiency of treatment in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group:91.2%(62/68) vs. 69.2%(36/52), P<0.05. Conclusions Saccharomyces boulardii combined with chiropractics in asphyxial newborn with feeding intolerance can reduce the time of reaching to full enteral feeding and the time of restoring to birth weight. It can decrease the incidence of hyperbilirubinemia, and the treatment effect is obvious.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of hyperoxia solution on pulmonary surfactant and histology of rabbits with oleic acid-induced acute lung injury. Methods Thirty healthy rabbits weighing 2.0 - 2.5 kg were randomly divided into three groups with 10 rabbits each:control group, hyperoxia solution treatment group, and saline treatment group.Blood samples were taken for blood-gas analysis before and at 30,60 and 120 min after oleic acid or normal saline administration. Two hours later, the animals were killed and pathologic changes of lung tissue were observed microscopically. The expression of SP-A was investigated using the immunohistochemical method and image analysis system. Results PaO2 was significantly higher in hyperoxia solution treatment group than in saline treatment group two hours after treatment (P < 0.001 ),but PaCO2 was significantly lower than that in saline treatment group (P <0.001).Optical microscopy showed that lung tissue damage was milder in hyperoxia solution treatment group than in saline treatment group. The content of surfactant A in hyperoxia solution treatment group was significantly greater than that in saline treatment group (P < 0.001 ).Conclusion Hyperoxia solution can lessen lung tissue injury and damage to pulmonary surfactant.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo detect the frequency of ROS1 gene rearrangement in non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) patients by FISH, and to analyze the relationship between ROS1 gene rearrangement and clinical features (including age, sex, stage, histology, smoking history) with NSCLC.

METHODSThe ROS1 gene rearrangement in histological sections of 1 652 NSCLC tissues was detected by FISH. The extracted RNA was amplified and the sequences were analyzed by Sanger sequencing for ROS1-positive samples.

RESULTSROS1 rearrangement was identified in 53 specimens (3.2%) from the 1 652 NSCLC tissues. Among these positive cases, 15 were CD74-ROS1, 13 were SLC34A2-ROS1, 13 were SDC4-ROS1 and 12 were TPM3-ROS1. The frequency of ROS1 rearrangement was significantly higher in never-smoking patients (49 cases) than in smokers (4 cases) (P < 0.05). Patients with ROS1-positive NSCLC tended to be younger and there was no significant difference in sex (P > 0.05). All of the ROS1-positive samples were adenocarcinomas, with a tendency toward higher clinical stage (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSROS1 rearrangement has diversity, and may be defined as a new molecular subtype of NSCLC. ROS1 rearrangement tends to occur in younger, and never-smoker lung adenocarcinoma patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo establish a repeat-free ROS1 gene fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) probe, and to compare its efficacy with those of commercial FISH probes in non-small cell lung cancer.

METHODSThe probe was constructed by combining human Cot-1 DNA genome into double-stranded sequence, and then digested by duples specific nuclease to establish a repeat-free sequence. The final repeat-free ROS1 FISH probe was labeled by red and green fluoresceins.

RESULTSCompared with the commercialized probe, repeat-free FISH probe exhibited excellent efficiency and low signal to noise ratio (SNR) in samples. There was statistical significance in the difference between the hybridization rate of these two probes (P < 0.05) , but there was no difference between the accuracy rate (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe repeat-free ROS1 FISH probe significantly improves the probe hybridization efficiency and SNR in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), resulting in an increased accuracy of detection.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To know about the urogenital tract caused by Mycoplasma and their variation by sex as well as the sensitivities to the 11 antimicrobials.METHODS The Ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu) and Mycoplasma hominis(Mh) CICS reagent kit was adopted, and the mycoplasma isolates were cultivated and identified, and the drug sensitivity test was conducted.RESULTS Among the 1503 samples,757 were positive(50.4%),which were composed by Uu 29.1%,Mh 1.6%,and Uu-Mh infection 19.7%.Among 1323 females,684 were positive(51.7%);among 180 males,73 were positive(40.6%);females were more apt to be infected according to the statistics(P

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To provide references for optimize the quantity and quality of Chinese pharmaceutical personnel.METHODS: The status quo on both quality and quantity of Chinese pharmaceutical personnels' human resources were analyzed.Grey Model was used to forecast the total number of Chinese pharmaceutical personnel in 2010.RESULTS: The education, the professional title and the number of pharmaceutical personnel were quite lower compared to the medical doctors in China. The number of pharmaceutical personnel in 2010 was estimated at nearly 500 000.CONCLUSIONS: The number of pharmaceutical personnel in China is in great demand and their quality remains to be improved.Pharmaceutical schools should establish programs for talents' cultivation and continuing education of pharmaceutical personnel so as to satisfy the demand on both quality and quantity of pharmaceutical personnel.
